MA&UD Minister KTR announces Sanitation Hub

MA&UD Minister Sri KTR announces Sanitation Hub (S-Hub) – an incubator for promoting start-ups & innovations in Water, Sanitation, SWM, WW recycling to make the cities & towns livable & healthy. A seed fund of Rs 25 Crores will be earmarked for this initiative

Addressing the delegates at the valedictory session of Ink Wash Summit in Hyderabad, Minister KTR stated that S-Hub will be the go-to place, a lighthouse for Telangana & for India, that would undertake incubation of ideas & build an ecosystem for innovations knowledge dissemination, capacity building, in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector.
The govt of Telangana proposes to house the S-Hub at Administrative Staff College of India for two years and then establish a dedicated facility at the proposed Centre for Urban Excellence.

Minister KTR stated that the Government of Telangana has prioritized Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector and is deeply committed to achieving the set targets well ahead of the globally agreed timelines. The Government aims to transform Telangana into a hub for water and sanitation innovations in the country, he added.

Minister KTR stated that the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Telangana have achieved ODF status and are forging ahead to meet ODF++ protocols through safe management of faecal sludge and septage at 71 ULBs under the PPP format.

Minister also highlighted that the Government of Telangana is striving to universalize access to the individual household tap connection and safe sanitation in all its urban local bodies (ULBs).

Minister KTR stated that Telangana’s new Municipal Act is citizen centric and trust based and took rights approach to water and sanitation services and other municipal services.
