Minister KTR held a review meeting with MA&UD officials

MA&UD Minister KTR stated that the government will develop the city roads on par with international standards to provide quality roads for commuters and footpaths for pedestrians.

Minister KTR held a review meeting with the senior officials of the MA&UD in Hyderabad. Officials from the electricity department, TSIIC and HMWSSB also took part in the meeting. Minister asked the officials of all the departments to work with coordination.

Talking about the usage of public transport across the cities, Minister KTR said that 72% of the population in Mumbai uses public transport, while only 34% of the Hyderabad population uses public transport.

Minister mentioned that the number of vehicles in the city in the past five years increased from 73 lakhs to 1.2 crores. He stated that new reforms will be introduced in the transport system which will further encourage citizens to use public transport.

Minister instructed the officials to develop greenery and lay more footpaths and develop cycleways at the Metro, MMTS stations and main roads. He also directed the officials to develop more parking spaces in the city and asked them to take permission from private landowners to utilize empty spaces for parking.

Minister directed officials to develop the open layout and plots for public use by building public toilets, bus shelters, sky walkways.

For strengthening the road network in the city, works for 709 kilometers main roads will be initiated under the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme (CRMP) from December 9th onwards.

Under the program, private agencies will operate and maintain the 709-km of major roads in the city for five years. Minister stated that the government, GHMC, and police department will provide complete support to the agencies. Minister instructed the zonal commissioners to supervise the works.

Soon, a new traffic commissionerate will be set up in GHMC limits to improve traffic management in the city.

నగరంలోని రోడ్లను ఉన్నత ప్రమాణాలతో అభివృద్ధి చేస్తామని రాష్ట్ర ఐటీ, మున్సిపల్‌ శాఖామంత్రి శ్రీ కేటీఆర్‌ అన్నారు. హైదరాబాద్‌ రోడ్లు- ట్రాఫిక్‌పై మంత్రి కేటీఆర్‌ అధ్యక్షతన ఉన్నత స్థాయి సమావేశం నిర్వహించారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా మంత్రి మాట్లాడుతూ.. నగరంలోని ట్రాఫిక్‌ సమస్యను శాస్త్రీయంగా క్రమబద్దీకరించేందుకు ఏర్పాట్లు చేస్తున్నామని అన్నారు. ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా పబ్లిక్‌ ట్రాన్స్‌పోర్టు వ్యవస్థకు ఆదరణ ఎక్కువగా ఉందని మంత్రి అన్నారు. మనదేశంలో.. ముఖ్యంగా ముంబైలో 72 శాతం పబ్లిక్‌ ట్రాన్స్‌పోర్ట్‌ను వినియోగిస్తుంటే, హైదరాబాద్‌లో మాత్రం 34 శాతం మాత్రమే పబ్లిక్‌ ట్రాన్స్‌పోర్ట్‌ను వినియోగిస్తున్నారని మంత్రి తెలిపారు. నగరంలో ఐదేళ్లలో వాహనాల సంఖ్య 73 లక్షల నుంచి కోటి 20 లక్షలకు పెరిగిందని మంత్రి పేర్కొన్నారు.

పబ్లిక్‌ ట్రాన్స్‌పోర్ట్‌ వైపు ప్రజలను మళ్లించేందుకు రవాణా వ్యవస్థను మెరుగు పరుస్తున్నామని మంత్రి అన్నారు. మెట్రో రైలు, ఎంఎంటీఎస్‌ మార్గాలు, స్టేషన్లు, రహదారులకు ఇరువైపులా ఫుట్‌పాత్‌లు, లైనింగ్‌, సైకిల్‌వేలు, గ్రీనరీలను అభివృద్ధి చేస్తామని మంత్రి కేటీఆర్‌ పునరుద్ఘాటించారు. పార్కింగ్‌ స్థలాలను కూడా ఎక్కువగా ఏర్పాటు చేస్తామన్నారు. పార్కింగ్‌ స్థలాలు లేక వాహనదారులు వాహనాలను రోడ్డుపైనే పార్క్‌ చేస్తున్నారన్నారు. దీనికి పరిష్కారంగా ఖాళీ ప్లాట్లను పార్కింగ్‌ ప్రదేశాలుగా ఏర్పాటు చేసేందుకు ప్రైవేటు యజమానుల అంగీకారం తీసుకుంటామని మంత్రి తెలిపారు. ప్రైవేట్‌ స్థలాల్లో పార్కింగ్‌ గురించి సంబంధిత స్థలాల యజమానులకు ఆదాయం సమకూరుస్తామన్నారు. ట్రాఫిక్‌ వ్యవస్థను సమన్వయ పర్చేందుకు జీహెచ్‌ఎంసీ పరిధిలో ప్రత్యేక ట్రాఫిక్‌ కమిషనరేట్‌ ఏర్పాటు చేస్తామని మంత్రి ఈ సందర్భంగా తెలిపారు.
