Telangana govt will be first customer of startups: KTR

IT Minister KT Rama Rao during the inauguration of IT incubation centre at SR College in Warangal on Monday said the Telangana government would extend all support for the growth of startups and it would be the first customer of startups.

Stating that the government was taking all steps to make Warangal, a tier II city, as the hub of IT industry, KTR said that three more big IT companies would come up in Warangal by the end of this year.

The Minister called upon the students to become job creators rather than the job seekers adding that the government would extend its support.

He, along with Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, inaugurated SR Innovation Exchange (SRiX), a Technology Business Incubator (TBI), on SR Engineer College (SREC) campus at Ananthasagar on the outskirts of Warangal city on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, he called upon the students to become job creators rather than the job seekers adding that the government would extend its support.

“SRiX is probably the biggest in Telangana and in a Tier II city,” he said and commended the SRiX incubation initiative as eight startups have already started incubation at SRiX.

Harkesh Mittal, Head-Innovation, entrepreneurship, tech and commercialisation, DST, said the role of DST would be to extend financial and networking support to the Technology Business Innovation Exchange -SRiX.

A Varada Reddy, Chairman of SR Group, said the initial focus at SRiX would be in the field of agriculture, manufacturing, management energy, water and waste, rural empowerment, education, and internet of things.

The SriX will incubate 40 promising start-ups and help them create an impact in the first year and it expects to add and create enormous high-value Businesses and Entrepreneurs in the next five years.

Later, KTR inaugurated the Warangal West MLA camp office cum residence at Balasamudram in Hanamkonda.
